Learn How to Start Making Money Online: Defy the Odds Workshop

January 19, 2024

Taking control of your website’s analytics is key to understanding your audience and boosting your online presence. If you’ve teamed up with a developer or a digital marketing agency to enhance your website -like Created by Chicas 😉 sharing access to your Google Analytics account is a must. Don’t stress if you’re unsure about the next steps – we’ve got your back! Our guide will lead you through a straightforward, step-by-step process to securely grant your web developer access to your Google Analytics account. This tutorial is tailored to the latest version of Google Analytics, affectionately known as “GA4.” Let’s dive in!

Step 1: Log into https://analytics.google.com
To begin, access your Google Analytics account. Login with the credentials associated with your account. Make sure you have the necessary administrative privileges to grant access to other users.

Step 2: Find the gear icon aka Admin Settings.
After logging in, look for the little gar icon on the bottom left corner of your screen  – that’s your gateway to the “Admin” section. Give it a click to move on to the next step!

Step 3: Navigate to the Account column and choose Property Access Management.
Once you’ve clicked on the gear icon, columns will unfold before you. Look for the Account column on the left side of the page, packed with options for your account settings. Use the dropdown menu to pick the Google Analytics account you want to share access to – make sure it’s the right one if you have multiple websites or accounts. Next, spot the Property Access Management option within the same column, give it a click, and voila! Now you have your VIP pass to control who tinkers with specific properties (aka websites) in your Google Analytics account.

Step 4: Add a New User.
Find the blue Plus Button hanging out in the top right corner of the page and give it a click. A handy dropdown will show up – choose Add Users. Now, you’re in the user management zone, where you can add your developer’s email address and give them the green light to dive into your Google Analytics account.

Step 5: Add Your Web Developer’s Email & Set Permissions.
Once you’ve plugged in your developer’s email address, it’s time to decide on the permissions. For smooth sailing in analytics, report crafting, and the power to install tracking codes, it’s a good move to hand your developer the Administrator access badge. This level of access gives them the keys to the kingdom – full control over your Google Analytics account. They can tweak settings, gather those precious insights, and make everything run like a well-oiled machine.

Step 7: Notify your Web Developer.
Once you’ve wrapped up the steps and hit that Add blue button, shoot a quick message to your website developer to share the good news – they now have the keys to your Google Analytics account! An email notification will land in their inbox, letting them know about the access you’ve graciously granted.

Hooray! You’ve successfully opened the doors for your developer to dive into your Google Analytics account. Now, they’re geared up to help you dig into your website’s performance and fine-tune things for the better. Granting access is a breeze, and it sets the stage for collaborative, data-driven decisions with your developer or marketing agency. With this new teamwork, get ready to elevate your website’s game and conquer those online goals!
